Blinds in Bradford, and flat-pack assembly

We're based in Bradford, so this is the home patch: BD1 to BD15, plus Shipley and Saltaire on BD18.

Boxed and Built measures and fits made-to-measure blinds in Bradford: three blinds fitted from £89, measuring free, fitting free on anything we supply. Flat-pack assembly from £60 for a wardrobe and £40 for a bed. We ring back the same day.

What Bradford houses are like to work in

Bradford is back-to-back country. The council sanctioned 1,401 houses in 1854 and 1,070 of them, 77%, were back-to-backs; the type was banned in 1860 and the ban lifted again in 1865. The date matters for windows. The earlier houses have a thin central stone mullion in the ground-floor window, so what looks like one opening is really two narrow ones with a stone bar between. By the 1880s the mullion had gone and the window is a single square-ish opening with a plain sill and lintel.

If there is a stone bar down the middle of your front window, that is two blinds, not one, and they want to match. We measure both and quote them together.

Before you ring

Which parts of Bradford do you cover?

BD1 to BD15, plus Shipley and Saltaire on BD18. That's Manningham, Heaton, Idle, Great Horton, Wibsey, Eccleshill and everywhere between them, and there's no travel charge anywhere on the list below.

There's a stone bar down the middle of my front window. Is that one blind or two?

Two, and they want to match. Pre-1880s Bradford back-to-backs have a central stone mullion, so what looks like one opening is two narrow ones with a bar between. We measure both and quote them as a pair.
