Who we are
Boxed and Built assembles flat-pack furniture and supplies and fits made-to-measure blinds across Yorkshire and Greater Manchester, and is the data controller for everything described here. Write to us at 28-30 Lumb Ln, Bradford BD8 7QS, email hello@boxedandbuilt.co.uk, or call 01274 665500.
What we collect
There are three ways to reach us and they ask for different things. A furniture quote takes your name, email, phone number and postcode, plus what you tell us about the items (notes, photos and product links). A blinds enquiry takes your name, phone number and postcode, because we measure that one in person before there is a price. A message through the contact form takes your name, email, phone number and the message itself. We don't ask for your full address until a job is confirmed, and we never ask for payment details on this site.
Why we collect it
To answer your question, work out your price, and carry out the job if you go ahead. Nothing else. We don't sell your details and we won't email you marketing. The only emails we send are about the enquiry you made.
Who else handles it
We use a small number of suppliers to run the site, and they only ever see what they need to do their part. Our database provider stores enquiries. Our file host stores the photos you upload. Our email provider sends the quote and the alerts, and our mailbox provider receives your replies. Our analytics provider sees anonymous usage data: which pages were opened and from where, with nothing stored on your device and nothing that identifies you. None of them use your details for anything of their own.
How long we keep it
Records of completed jobs are kept for 6 years, which is how long HMRC requires business records to be kept. Enquiries that don't turn into jobs, the photos attached to them, and messages sent through the contact form are kept only for as long as we need them, and deleted after that. Ask us to delete yours at any time and we will.
Where it's stored
Enquiries are held in a database hosted in London. Photos you upload are held by a file host, named to you on request. Email is handled by Zoho in their EU data centre, and analytics by PostHog in the EU. Nothing is stored outside the UK or the EU.
Cookies
We don't set analytics cookies, which is why there is no cookie banner. Our analytics runs without storing anything on your device: it counts which pages are opened and where visitors came from, and forgets you when you close the tab. The only cookie the site uses is the sign-in cookie for our own staff area, which customers never receive.
Your rights
You can ask to see what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us and we'll reply within one month. If you're not happy with how we've handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
